10 things I'm grateful for (#3)

| Monday, 27 April 2015

First things first, how cute is this notepad? Seriously. I find so much joy in cute little things. Yes, that is one of the things I'm grateful for this month; cute little things.

I'm a bit late doing for this post but they say better late than never! So... here are my 10 things for the month of March.

1. CUTE LITTLE THINGS

Totally random I know, but when I see cute little things it just warms my heart.

2. MEXICO

As you all know, we recently went to Mexico on vacation. I'm super thankful for all the amazing experiences that come with being married to a Mexican. They are truly a loving and caring people, and being able to spend some quality time in a colorful, lively and warm country like that is just so fun!

3. EXTENDED FAMILY

Seriously though. I am so thankful about my family in-law. It's so nice to have good people in your life, people that want to be around you, and more importantly, that love being with your children. There is no warmer feeling in my heart than to see my kids' eyes light up when they see their grand-parents and aunts/uncles.

4. BLOGGING

I have learned so much about myself through blogging. Things I sort of already knew, but never had the chance to explore; my creativity, my problem solving skills, photography... the list goes on and on. I'm super thankful for having the opportunity to share content I'm passionate about.

5. HAVING A BIG YARD

I always dreamed of having a big yard. Granted, big is pretty subjective, but I think ours is a reasonable size. It's awesome for having summer parties and playing badminton. It's also big enough to have a pool, a play structure for the kids, and a garden... amongst other things. I know these are all things, but it's the moments and memories we create with them that matter most to me.

6. FRESH FLOWERS

Every time I see fresh flowers in a home, it makes me feel peaceful. I just love having a little punch of color and a bit of nature in my home. Do you?

7. FAMILY REUNIONS

I've been taking it upon myself to organize family reunions, and although it can be quite stressful as the host, I do not regret any of those moments. I just love to be surrounded by all my loved ones.

8. PAJAMA DAYS

I've been having a lot of those lately. Being on maternity leave, I have been taking every opportunity possible to stay in my pajamas.

9. NUTELLA

I can eat a whole jar in one sitting. Did I just say that out loud? Whoops.

10. THE SUN

It's about time he showed up around these parts. I do my best to enjoy every season to the max, but summer is definitely one of my favorite, because it includes the sun.

10 things I'm grateful for (#2)

| Monday, 2 March 2015

Gratefulness is something we should be practicing every day. [tweet this]

On to # 2 of the things I'm grateful for series for this year's goal. I have a feeling it's going to be a bit harder this time around to come up with things to be grateful for since I got rid of the most obvious ones in my last post. Hopefully, after a little bit of practice reflecting on the beautiful aspects of my life, it'll get easier!

What are you grateful for this month?

1. Love
I'm so thankful to have so many people to love and have them love me in return. My husband, my children, my siblings and friends. I'm so incredibly lucky to have all of you in my life.

2. Having children to play with
Children are so pure and innocent, full of energy and love. It's such a blessing to have children that you can pretty much play with however you want. I'm the type of mom that will take every opportunity to dance in the rain, roll in mud, climb trees, and all that jazz. :)

3. Free health care
I recently became aware that not everyone gets free health care around the world and I've been so spoiled in Canada that I never even stopped to imagine what it must be like to not have free health care. I'm incredibly thankful that I don't have to think twice about my family's health and I can just walk into any hospital or clinic and get the required treatment. THANK YOU CANADA!

4. Color
Life in black and white? Um, no.

5. Going to Mexico
One of the many perks of being married to a Mexican is that I get to Mexico with my littles every couple of years. I've always loved to travel and being able to see loved ones at the same time is so much fun.

6. Pillows
They're so soft and fluffy. What would I do without pillows?

7. Baby giggles
Melts my heart every time.

8. Indoor s'mores and fires
Have to find something to do during those really cold winter days right? And what's the point of having a fire place if you don't use it? ;)

9. Quiet time
As much as I love to play with my children, I do love my quiet time to do crafty things, take pictures and blog! It helps me remember who I am.

10. My mistakes
When you're in the middle of difficult moment in your life, brought on by very unfortunate mistakes, sometime it's hard to see the good side of it. But today, I'm grateful for all those mistakes I made, because it made me the person I am today, and I'm damn proud of it.

10 things to be grateful for

Hi guys!

Today, I'm super excited to introduce a new monthly series; gratitude! I've been meaning to do this for a while now, and I actually set this as a goal for this year to make sure I actually do it!

The idea is to make time in my life to sit down and reflect on things I'm grateful for every month. I find that I tend to be a bit negative when I get overwhelmed and since I unwillingly set a lot of expectations for myself, I'm also often disappointment.

I'm hoping by sitting back and reflecting on my life every month that I will be more positive and be able to enjoy the little things more.

I would love it if you joined me in this adventure by sharing the things you are grateful for every month. This way we can encourage each other and maybe even discover things in our own lives that we didn't even notice!

things to be grateful for

So here we go, the 10 things I'm grateful for in January are:

1. MY FAMILY IS HAPPY & HEALTHY
This is something so fundamental that it's very easy to overlook sometimes. I'm so grateful that everyone in my little family is healthy, active and happy.

2. THE SUPPORT OF MY LOVING HUSBAND
I've been blessed with a very involved husband. I appreciate his help so much. He cooks, cleans, pick up toys, does the laundry, works, repairs stuff around the house, gives me massages, plays with the kids and gives them plenty of hugs and kisses... the list goes on and on. He doesn't do it all on his own, but he does so much that I often forget just how lucky I am. I love you so much!

3. REAL HUGS(the kind only children can give)
You can't know what a real hug is until your child raises his little arms and wraps them around you. The feeling is just so pure and yummy it's almost indescribable.

4. HAVING A JOB
I complain about how hard it is for me to work when all my heart wants is to be with my babies all day, every day. Sometimes I feel so guilty about leaving them at daycare that I forget just how lucky I am to even have a job.

5. SNOW
I've been doing my best lately to focus on the positive side of snow. I get to cuddle with my kids more, enjoy my favorite warm drinks and do some pretty heavy exercise pulling my kids on sleds during walks (that's a good thing right?).

6. HAVING FRIENDS
Having moved around a lot in my life, most of my friends have always been very far away. For the first time in my life, I actually have friends that are close. To top it off, they're all true and caring people. I am so blessed to have them in my life. It makes me feel

7. BEING NEEDED
Until recently, I never stopped to appreciate how lucky I am to actually be "needed". As in, people need me. My kids, my husband, my friends, my siblings... can you imagine what it would be like if no one needed you?

8. HAVING A HOME
This one pretty much goes without saying when it's -15C outside. I'm also very thankful to have somewhere to go back to, somewhere I belong. I can't even imagine what it must feel like to be wandering the streets, lost.

9. COFFEE
I just had to add that in there. I just love coffee. I know, probably not the best thing in the world, but I'm still thankful it exists!

10. MATERNITY LEAVE
I'm really spoiled on this one, I know. Even though I dread going back to work, not because I don't want to work, just because I would rather be raising my children... I'm still very lucky to have an entire year to devote to them when they're born. This is my second maternity leave and I kept my oldest with me at home most of the time. All of you stay-at-home moms out there, you guys are so unbelievably blessed. I know it's not always easy, but I envy you! There are some women that don't even get a chance to stay at home with their babies at all, for that reason, I'm very fortunate!

Man, it was hard to just come up with 10 pretty obvious ones, can you imagine doing this every month! It's going to be quite the challenge. I'm really glad I'm doing this though, it's giving me time to reflect on my life, and how lucky I am.

What are you grateful for this month?
